Advocating for Mining Communities Within the

      Semiconductor and Battery Industry

The global semiconductor and battery industry depends on minerals from many parts of the world.  These industries must do more to promote responsible mining practices.

We, the workers, feel that we must advocate on behalf of our colleagues in marginalized mining communities.  We seek to uphold human rights and environmental protections, and ensure that all workers everywhere are compensated equitably for their work.

Our Mission

Our mission is to organize workers in the semiconductor industry to advocate globally for the safety and equity of communities in and near mineral mining sites (aka - responsible mining). The rights and well-being of mine workers must not be overlooked by policy-makers and industry leaders. We seek to place pressure on downstream industry stakeholders to prioritize understanding and responding to the needs of the most marginalized communities at the base of our supply chains.

We seek to address issues related to responsible mining through the following actions:

  • Amplifying the voices of marginalized communities affected by mining, and relaying their grievances to leaders in the semiconductor industry

  • Collecting and sharing resources and information to improve public understanding of issues surrounding responsible mining

  • Supporting legislation and corporate policies that enforces supply chain transparency, respect for human rights and environmental preservation

  • Encouraging humanization of our colleagues in mining communities, and supporting preservation of cultures and ecosystems threatened by irresponsible mining practices

  • Supporting the work of human rights and environmental advocacy organizations operating in mining areas

  • Helping workers in the industry to organize within their companies to advocate for responsible mining practices

As part of our effort, we welcome communication and collaboration with any organization or group in the semiconductor and battery industry. However, we will never accept funding from for-profit companies, business alliances, lobbying groups, or supply chain management schemes.
